PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- An Interlachen man was sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing a child in 2011.

Steven Ray Baker, 27, was sentenced after being convicted of sexual battery on a person less than 12 years of age. His trial began Wednesday and the Putnam County jury took just a little over a half-hour before finding him guilty as charged.

Conviction of a capital felony requires a mandatory life sentence.

The victim was 11 years old at the time of the incident. She testified that on December 5th, 2011, she was watching movies with family and friends and fell asleep in a recliner. She awoke to the defendant placing his hands in her pants and molesting her.
