JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The search continues for a masked man police say robbed a worker at gunpoint Tuesday morning. It happened in the back parking lot of Sneakers.

"My boys, they're out here all the time. I mean, they won't be out here today," said Pearl Tiller.

Tiller's kids go to Fletcher Middle School and she said there was pandemonium when she picked them up.

"My daughter just sent me a text message. She lives across town, telling me to be careful because there's a guy walking around with a Freddie Krueger mask on shooting people," she said.

Action News has learned as the Sneakers kitchen manager reported for work, an armed robber pointed a gun at him and demanded money. That kitchen manager didn't want to talk on camera but Action News was told the robber was wearing a Freddie Krueger mask. The man took the worker's wallet and ran in the direction of St Paul's Catholic Preschool. That school immediately went on lockdown.

"That's a little scary, a little unusual, I think, for this area," said Larry Masonbrink.

He and his wife were on a walk when they learned an armed gunman was on the loose.

"I'll be more careful. More alert," Margie Masonbrink said.

The Masonbrinks said this kind of crime is rare in their neighborhood, but with a masked robber brazen enough to pull a gun in broad daylight, they all agree they won't rest easy until that person's caught.

"It's getting really dangerous out here, it really is," said TIller.

The robber was last seen wearing a white shirt and khaki pants and a Freddie Krueger mask. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
