ORANGE PARK, Fla -- A man is in custody after a series of crashes in Clay County that injured 4 people, including himself.

A section of Blanding Boulevard was closed while the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Highway Patrol investigate.

FHP says Bryant Alexander Copney, 22, of Middleburg was in a white Mazda traveling southbound on Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park when he rear-ended a car near Blanding and Kingsley. He took off south on Blanding where he collided with a man on a motorcycle near College Avenue. The motorcyclist was injured.

According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, Copney continued down Blanding where he crashed again. A CCSO patrol watch commander on duty saw the second collision and pursued the driver, witnessing the third crash in the Ridgecrest area of Orange Park. The suspect drove his car into oncoming northbound traffic when he lost control and was ejected.

FHP says at least 4 people were injured. Copney is in critical condition at Shands Jacksonville.
