Man injured in motorcycle crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a motorcycle crash in North Jacksonville that sent one man to the the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators were called to the 500 block of New Berlin Road at 12:45 p.m. Sunday where they say a motorcyclist failed to negotiate a curve.

Police tell Action News the male rider ran on to the sidewalk before striking a fence and coming to a stop. He was not wearing a helmet.

Police say the man had to be taken to U.F. & Shands Hospital in Jacksonville in life-threatening condition.

JSO is trying to determine if alcohol or speed contributed to the crash.
