BUNNELL, Fla. -- An alleged marijuana grower says the 61 plants found on his property were for personal use, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies, along with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Tri-County Narcotics Task Force, raided a home Nutwood Avenue Wednesday. Investigators say 18 marijuana plants were in pots outside the house. Inside, two rooms appeared to be dedicated to a growing operation; each had high voltage lights, fans, and ballasts. Investigators say they found a total of 43 plants in those rooms. It has an estimated street value of $61,000.
The homeowner, 49-year-old Dwayne Reed, is charged with manufacturing marijuana. The report says Reed told investigators he was using the plants for pain relief.
