JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A local man has pleaded guilty to charges including eluding police, aggravated battery and DUI.
Charles Harris pleaded guilty this week to charges of Felony Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, and DUI.
The 47-year-old man decided to plead guilty right before jury selection was to begin.
In March 2012, Harris chased a man who was on his way to work, by ramming his car several times. The man called 911 and Harris was spotted by Jacksonville Sheriff's Officers driving the wrong way on Stockton Street.
Harris ran through several red lights and stop signs as JSO tried to pull him over. Police eventually stopped Harris who then tried to flee again by ramming his car into a JSO patrol vehicle. Harris admitted he was drunk, and that was why he ran from the police.
Harris faces 30 years in prison as a Habitual Felony Offender. He will be sentenced on October 8.
