Man pleads guilty to murdering girlfriend
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man faces life in prison after pleading guilty in the stabbing death of his girlfriend.
Thomas Webster, 58, pleaded guilty on Thursday to a charge of murder in the second degree for the stabbing death of Patricia Berner.
Police say Webster and Berner were arguing at their home in April 2012 when he stabbed Berner in the back with a large kitchen knife. Webster then drove to a local convenience store and asked the clerk to call 911. When officers arrived at the store, Webster told police that he may have killed Berner. Police found Berner dead in the couple's home.
Webster faces life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of October 28.
