JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man was sentenced Friday morning for posing as a record producer and web designer while taking thousands of dollars from clients.

Raj Gupta was sentenced to three years in prison followed by ten years of probation.  He was also ordered to pay $60,000 in restitution for crimes he committed against his clients.

Evidence showed between the years 2007 and 2010 Gupta posed as a record producer and website designer while taking tens of thousands of dollars from clients, with the promise they would see a return on their investment.

Gupta took the money, cut-off communication with the victims and never produced the records or websites.  As part of the sentence, Gupta has to pay $500 a month in restitution.

Clients need to do more homework, check credits, watch what you sign, and beware of what you're paying for; especially if upfront.
