JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A jury has sentenced the man who shot and killed man and injured a 9-year-old at a local park. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Tamarius Bowes pleaded guilty to charges of second degree murder, aggravated battery and carrying a concealed firearm. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with a 20 year minimum mandatory, followed by 10 years of probation.

In March 2011, JSO was called to Beverly Hills Park after a fight involving more than 100 people. During that fight, 23-year-old Charles Jenkins was shot and killed. A 9-year-old boy was also shot in the leg. He has since recovered from his injuries.

Bowes admitted to carrying a concealed gun without a permit during the incident as well as shooting the gun as he ran from the scene.

According to the Jenkins' father, the fight started with an argument between his daughter and another girl over a derogatory comment made on Facebook. He says Jenkins was trying to defend his sister when Bowes began shooting.
