Man shot to death after attacking deputies
MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- A spokesperson with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says deputies shot and killed a man after he attacked two deputies Friday night.
Jenifer Lowe with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened around 10:45 in Summerfield after deputies responded to a call about a suspicious man causing a disturbance on the 10400 block of SE Sunset Harbor Road.
Lowe says the responding deputies encountered a man who was standing in the roadway being aggressive and uncooperative.
The man eventually attacked deputies Lauren Miley and Norman Brown during the altercation.
According to Lowe one of the deputies shot the man, who has not been identified by the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office says the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is taking over the investigation into the shooting, which is protocol for deputy involved shootings, according to Lowe.
