Man taken into custody after standoff
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A neighborhood near Edward Waters College is back open tonight following the surrender of a man in a SWAT standoff.
Police arrested and charged Richard Alfred Washington with domestic aggravated battery and false imprisonment.
He barricaded himself inside a home on McHonihe Street around 10 a.m. during a domestic dispute. He surrendered around 7:15 p.m. after police released tear gas into the home.
Police had a number of streets blocked off during the ordeal.
