ST. MARYS, Ga. -- The St. Mary's Police Department is looking for a man in connection with two missing people and a burned boat found at the St. Marys boatyard.
Police say they received a suspicious call shortly after 3:00 a.m. Monday from the boat yard located along North River area and New Point Peter. Once they arrived, they found a boat on fire approximately 50 to 75 yards off shore. Once on shore, police found a charred body inside the boat. They are unable to identify the body at this time.
Nearby, police recovered a small dingy believed to belong to the owner of the burning boat. It had burn marks on the hull of the boat and the mooring line.
The boats owner, Karen Shaye Barnes has not been found. Her neighbor, Larry Owen Ford was determined to be missing as well.
Police are now looking for Barnes' ex-husband, David Jerome Trauger. They say Trauger and Barnes were involved in a dispute over the boat at the time of the incident.
Trauger is 67-years-old, 160-170 lbs and thin. He is an avid boater and is known to own properties up and down the east coast.
