JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has reopened Mandarin Road after a driver and his seat were thrown from his car during a crash.

Police say the driver crossed into the wrong lane and then ran off the road and hit a tree near Sparkleberry Lane. The driver and his seat were ejected. He died at the scene.

Investigators say the driver was wearing his seatbelt. They did not immediately explain how the seat came out of the car.

Traffic Homicide detectives with JSO believes alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.

The victim's been identified as 21-year-old Alexander Pepple.  He turned 21 three weeks ago.
