Mathews Bridge to remain closed

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The contractor working on the project to paint the Mathews Bridge must inspect everything before the bridge can reopen.

The bridge has been closed since Tropical Storm Beryl made its presence known in Northeast Florida.

City leaders on Monday says the wind issues has pretty much gone away, but because of all the cabling and scaffolding on the bridge, the contractor has to check to make sure everything is safe for work crews and motorists before the bridge opens to traffic again.
