JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Crews working on the Mathews Bridge have put the section of the bridge that slipped after a Navy ship ran into it back into place.
The section slipped about 4 inches. An initial attempt only got the section back up 2 inches, according to State Rep. Lake Ray.
Now that the section is raised, crews can begin installing a new chord section, a key part of getting the bridge back in operation.
Also on Friday, JSO also plans a comprehensive discussion of traffic in the wake of the closure and the effectiveness of the use of the Hart Bridge as an alternative on game days.
