JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One of the suspects in the federal Internet gambling investigation into Allied Veterans is fighting to suppress evidence.

Attorneys for Kelly Mathis, who investigators say served as the ringleader to the operation, filed a motion to suppress evidence taken from Mathis' law firm in Jacksonville last March.

It will be one of several motions set to be discussed Friday in Sanford.

Attorneys also plan to go over a motion to dismiss and another for a change of venue in the case.

Investigators arrested more than 50 people in connection with a $300 million money laundering scheme organized by, according to investigators, Allied Veterans of the World.

Mathis was among several local leaders arrested in the investigation.  Former FOP president Nelson Cuba, former FOP Vice President Robbie Freitas and Jerry Bass, the national commander for Allied Veterans of the World Inc. & Affiliates, were also arrested.
