Mayor to address city's pension problem this morning
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Today, Mayor Alvin Brown hopes to discuss a way to fix a $2.5 billion pension problem that is creating high tension in the river city.
He will meet with the Retirement Reform Task Force Plan Funding Sub-Committee at 8:30 a.m. to offer solutions to the city's problem.
He previously presented a plan that required JEA to contribute $40 million. JEA responded that it could not afford to contribute any more than it already did.
Mayor Brown's Spokesman, Dave DeCamp said, "We want to work with the task force to come up with the best solution possible."
Action News will have a reporter and photographer at the meeting at city hall and will bring you updates on ActionNewsJax.com and on Action News @ Noon on CBS47.
