STARKE, Fla. -- The fallen heroes of Bradford County will be honored in a law enforcement memorial.

The Starke Police Department is teaming up with the Kiwanis of Starke to get it built.

It will feature a stone and palm tree for each of the 18 law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

Each stone will have the name, date of last call, and either a star for the sheriff's department, a shield for a police officer, or DC emblem for a corrections officer.

The memorial stones cost $65 each, and a concrete walkway is planned to run the length of the memorial, between the trees.

Contact Capt. Warren at (904) 964-5400 or (352) 494-3326 if you are interested in making a contribution to the memorial. An account has been set up at the Community State Bank in Starke at 811 S. Walnut St.
