CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. -- Action News has learned new information about the search for a missing woman from Kingsland, Georgia.
Ivy Merck’s father reported the 24-year-old missing on August 28. She was last seen boarding her dog at Laurel Oaks Animal Hospital in Camden County.
Action News learned that detectives in Georgia met with the family members Tuesday.
Merck lived in Athens and graduated from the University of Georgia. She later enrolled in the school’s College of Veterinary Medicine but voluntarily withdrew from the program in January 2011. Action News spoke with the Associate Dean of Academics Affairs at the College of Veterinary Medicine.
“Ivy is bright, she is sweet, kind, loving. We desperately want to see her back at home with her family,” said Dr. Paige Carmichael.
Merck’s SUV was discovered in Deerfield Beach, Fla. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office is looking through the car for any evidence that may help lead investigators to Merck.
Merck was working at Good Hands Veterinary Hospital in Athens. Co-workers could not comment on the case.
