LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A woman was arrested after she allegedly attacked her children and then an officer.
At 7:53 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to Lake Jeffery Road and Dot Glen for a wellbeing check. The call said a woman was standing in the roadway with three small children yelling at vehicles.
When officers arrived, the woman, later identified as Kalandra Perry, began screaming, acting hysterically, and saying she was going to kill her children. She held the children, ages 4 and 5, under each arm The third child, age 1, was on the ground pinned between her legs.
While trying to free the children, Perry bit an officer on his side under his arm. Officer used a stun gun to try to control her but she continued to resist. Another Taser and pepper spray were used to finally control her.
The officer was treated at a hospital and released. Perry was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. The children were unharmed. The Department of Children and Families placed the children into the custody of their grandparents.
The investigation is ongoing.
