JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Some places in North Florida set July records for rain. Gainesville is one of those cities...with over 16 inches for the month.

Notable rain totals on Wednesday: Fleming Island with 1.2" (and 11.27" for the month); San Marco with 2.3" (and 13.36" for July).

We've started August on the damp side. The First Coast is water-logged right now, and more rain is on the way. Another inch of rain is possible with some areas receiving more. The best chance for rain today is still during the afternoon and evening.

We'll see a slight change in the pattern Friday. Expect more sunshine and hotter temps.

The weekend will also be seasonably hot and humid with daily scattered showers and thunderstorms.
