JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- More red-light cameras will be tested throughout the weekend. The 30-day grace period begins Monday. The cameras will be at the following locations.

· San Jose Boulevard and Claire Lane - Northbound Approach (JAX-SJCL-02/NB)
· San Jose Boulevard and Claire Lane - Southbound Approach (JAX-SJCL-01/SB)

The reason for these "red light cameras" is not to relieve police officers or gain revenue for the police or city. It is to reduce ACCIDENTS caused by drivers not stopping for lights, speeding, or just plain reckless driving. The cameras must be working as I have noticed less frequent accidents at the intersections I frequent. As long as the length of the yellow light is adequate and standardized for all traffic lights, this should reduce accidents and hopefully lower car insurance rates in Florida.
