JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- The First Alert Weather Team is tracking calmer weather for this evening as storms diminish. Tonight, for many, will be partly cloudy and warm. A strong cold front will press across Southeast Georgia tonight bringing a very good chance for strong to severe storms during the overnight hours. People are urged to turn on their weather radios and download the Action News’ Weather App to their iPad or iPhone in case any alerts are sent out while sleeping. These storms will have the potential to produce hail, damaging wind and intense downpours. The front presses southward into Northeast Florida bringing early morning storms and rain. The system is expected to weaken as it moves southward so the threat for any severe weather will diminish in Northeast Florida. Friday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with drier air moving in SE Georgia, however, storms and rain will persist mostly in Florida for the afternoon and early evening. Then clearing and drying takes place just in time for the weekend.
