More than 17,000 compete in Gate River Run

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The largest 15K race in the country was held Saturday in Downtown Jacksonville.

Officially, more than 17,000 competed in 36th year of the race.

Janet Cherobon-Bawcom was the first person to cross the finish line.

For the men, Ben True takes top honors.

Around $85,000 will be awarded to top place finishers.

All 15K finishers received a custom designed medal that commemorates this year’s run.

Last year some 16,357 finished the race.
