JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A mosquito-borne illness alert has been issued for Duval County.
The health department has confirmed 4 new cases of the West Nile Virus in the area, and there is a heightened concern that additional residents will become ill.
The most recent cases involve 2 men, ages 35 and 52, and 2 women, ages 41 and 54.
Duval County now has 5 confirmed cases of the West Nile Virus for this year.
Symptoms of the illness include headache, fever, fatigue, dizziness, weakness and confusion.
Physicians should contact their county health department if they suspect a patient meets the criteria for the virus.
