MARIETTA, Ga. -- The mother of Antonio Santiago, the 13-month-old boy shot and killed while in his baby stroller, is now on the witness stand in the trial of DeMarquise Elkins.

Testimony started early and is expected to end late. The judge is trying to speed up proceedings.

Elkins, 18, is charged with killing Antonio Santiago in an attempted robbery back in March.
His mother, Karimah Elkins, is also on trial right now. She's charged with helping to hide the suspected murder weapon.
Before West took the stand, jurors heard from a pastor and a worker who said Elkins robbed them at gunpoint, ten days before Antonio's murder.
A teen witness to the robbery also testified.
West is expected to be the state's final witness.
