JACKSONVILLE, FLA -- A Jacksonville man is dead after leaving a traffic stop and crashing into a parked U-Haul truck. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the officer saw 41-year-old John Blunt riding his motorcycle eastbound on Atlantic Blvd. Tuesday morning. The officer then realized the Blunt was driving with a suspended license and attempted to pull him over. According to police, Blunt sped up and drove away at more than 100 mph down Atlantic Blvd.

JSO says the officer immediatly deactivated his emergency lights and notified the JSO Police Emergency Communicatiosn Office that he was no longer attempting to pull Blunt over because he was speeding away.

According to police, Blunt was attempting to turn south onto Spring Park Road when he crashed into a parked U-Haul truck.

Blunt was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Police say Blunt was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
