Motorist, firefighters find help for injured owl
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A passing motorist and a group of firefighters came to the aid of an injured baby owl Friday morning along A1A near St. Augustine Beach.
The motorist reportedly flagged down the first responders after finding the owl on the side of roadway.
Firefighters say they kept the bird warm by wrapping it in a shirt.
The owl was eventually taken to a Humane Association of Wildlife Care & Education center in St. Johns County, where it received medical care.
No word on what the injuries to the bird were.
HAWKE is a licensed volunteer organization in Florida that works to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wild birds, mammals and reptiles, including endangered species, their website states.
