Chab, if you really ARE an FL CCW holder, then you already know where you went wrong with your post. Since you started with falsehoods, your logic leads you nowhere, your disgraceful finding is a little less than accurate. Of course, that is YOUR opinion, and I don't have a problem with opinions, just false facts.

I have a concealed weapons permit in Florida. Many of us practice shooting on a regular basis. One can get a CCW permit after a paltry four hours of training. It is good for five years. One does not have to qualify with a firearm after that five years and can renew for another five years by just paying the fee. So one can have a CCW permit for 10 years and hardly fire a shot. I find it a disgrace that a concealed weapons teacher on Action News would claim that if a person would have been in that theater with a CCW permit that they could have taken out the shooter especially since t was dark and he was lobbing grenades.

If you can 'see' that 1country, than you live in a different world than most of us... but your entitled to your 'imaginary scenario's...now matter how unlikely it would ever happen that way. No way would 30 ccw's stand up and just start shooting wildly like the thugs do here on the streets of Jax. That's why we cannot let them take away our personal right to protect our selves, because then only the street gangs and thugs will have guns.

True Nativejax. The Century 16 also has the strict no guns policy and sadly that did not work out so well for the patrons. Considering it did not stop a lunatic from shooting 71 people. While the debate could run forever about legally carrying citizens could have stopped him. There is a darn good chance had there been an off duty law enforcement officer (required to carry off duty) in the theatre it darn well could have ended earlier depending on where that officer was etc etc. I will however add, if there had been legally carrying military/combat veterans in there that could/would have up'ed the odds. Even an individual that was highly trained in weapons tactics/employment could have helped. To the argument about more guns would/could have caused more to be injured or killed. If those carrying who are/were properly trained they would have known if they had a shot or not. Someone properly trained knows their target and their backdrop. They do not shoot like a lunatic randomly all over a room not carrying about where their rounds end up. Of course if there had been an off duty LEO in the theatre and they had not taken a shot (cause they did not have a clear shot). Someone would sue them for not taking the shot. AND of course if they had shot while not having a clear shot and accidentally shot/killed an innocent by stander they would get sued as well.

So this psycho sneaks into THE SIDE door of a theater and shoots up 70 some people and this couple goes out of their way to a theater that has a STRICT NO WEAPONS POLICY? How are they going to stop someone from walking thru those side doors Ms. Halperin? Theres no COPS OR GUARDS standing at those side doors all day and night. HOW STUPID. Trained SANE citizens in a theater COULD save lives...maybe yours or mine.
