JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars' starting unit faded after a fast start. The New York Giants were the opposite, scoring on four consecutive series after being stopped on their opening drive.

Eli Manning only played two series and produced three points before taking the rest of the night off in the Giants' 32-21 loss in both teams' preseason opener. New York (No. 3 in the AP Pro32) built a 17-point first half lead, but Jacksonville (No. 31 in the AP Pro32) responded with an 18-point second half to earn the victory.

Manning was 4 of 8 for 60 yards and a passer rating of 75.0. The Giants were forced to punt in their first series, but Manning directed a drive into the red zone on the next series before settling for a field goal.

Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert was sharp in directing an 89-yard touchdown drive in 13 plays on the Jaguars' first series. But that was the extent of his success as the next two drives were halted by lost fumbles, the second one by Gabbert.
JACKSONVILLE, FL. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars trail the New York Giants 17-7 in the second quarter at EverBank Field.

Blaine Gabbert converted four third down conversions on an 89 yard scoring drive to start the game. The drive ended with a short touchdown pass to Cecil Shorts for a 7-0 lead.

Derek Cox left the game with a strained calf and will not return.

Shorts turned the ball over to set up the Giants touchdown.

A Blaine Gabbert fumble set up the Giants with a scoring drive in Jacksonville territory.

Flyover Canceled

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The military flyover has been canceled for tonight's preseason game at EverBank Field, Action News has learned.

No reason has been given as to why.  We're checking with local military to get more information.

The Jaguars and Giants kickoff right here on CBS47 at 7:30 p.m.  Tune in at 7 p.m. for the Jaguars pregame show.

And we want to give a shot out to Sonny's Bar-b-q for bringing us some munchies at our live truck.

RV Living Ends

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Life in the RV is over. We have been camping with the Jags for two and a half weeks during training camp and that comes to an end today as the Jaguars take the field against the New York Giants in the first preseason game of 2012.

Steve Wrigley's sleepover at EverBank is over. He will be able to take a real shower and sleep in his own bed later tonight. We all are happy about that. Bubba Burger and the cheerleaders from the ROAR stopped by this morning as we concluded our daily stay from the 'Bank.

I just got out of the Jaguars production meeting for tonight's broadcast on CBS47. I'll be on the sidelines while Kevin Harlan and Tony Boselli will call the game. We chatted with Mike Mularkey, Blaine Gabbert and Paul Posluszny in the meeting.

It's my favorite part of the day. We're at practice everyday and the confirmation of what we see and say is always good to hear. We do pickup some nice anecdotal things that you will hear tonight on the broadcast.

Jags owner Shad Khan will not be at tonight's game. He is keeping a prior committment to carmakers to attend the Olympics in London this weekend. The commitment was made four years ago.

More details throughout the day. Follow us on https://twitter.com/. Watch tonight's pregame coverage starting at 5 p.m. on CBS47, then the 30 minute Jaguars Pregame Show on CBS47 at 7 p.m., and kickoff is around 7:30 p.m.

Too close for comfort if you ask me, the Jags better 'tighten up' if they expect to kick butt this season.
