What a wonderful way to honor ALL Veterans, past, present and future. There is already a Pablo Island in CA, but there is no island named Veterans Island. And as for the history, if you look at the old maps, there were many military outpost in the early days on this land and Mayport NS is currently there. Also who patrolled this area to keep it safe in history? The military that's who! As for the San Pablo name, there is already a community named that in the area, there are streets, schools and churches named that, so to me it is already over used, ie: you say to a friend "Let's go over to San Pablo" and you are talking about the island but they think you are talking about one of the other San Pablo's in the area. To much confusion with the name. Thousands of Veterans have serviced, lived, died in battle or from battle on this stretch of land, so what a better way to honor them and all Veterans!! These are the same men and women that have served their country and all of us by putting their lives on the line so we could have our freedoms.
