ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A local navigator was forced to postpone a free service to guide people through the Affordable Care Act website until issues with the site get fixed.

The service was supposed to be offered at the St. Johns County Main Library branch on Ponce de Leon Boulevard.

Rich Hatfield is a navigator. The term means he's been trained and licensed by the state to help you navigate the Affordable Care Act website. But getting anything done on the healthcare.gov site has been nothing short of frustrating.

"You can go on and begin to sign people up and give them a right to have an account. You can do that, but then when you try and go further, like say determining their eligibility for example, you run into roadblocks," said Hatfield.

After  the website is fixed, Hatfield said it should take about an hour to sign up, unlike the average of four hours it's taking him now.

"We're rescheduling in about a week's time just to give the website time to develop itself and become more functional," said Hatfield.

According to Hatfield, the website is not the only way to sign up. He said he'll bring paper forms when he reschedules the service.

According to the website, the deadline to sign up is March 31.
