JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Where most come for sanctuary, one man found trouble. 26-year-old Kerry Lamb was gunned down at Schindler's Drive Baptist Church Saturday in broad daylight.

"For us, as a church, is confirmed the need for us to be here," said senior pastor, John Green. "We need to share the gospel and love a community that's obviously hurting."

Neighbors say the community is hurting from a drug problem that's recently popped up in the once quiet country area.

Police say Lamb, a young father, was likely killed over a drug deal.  Neighbors say the signs of a drug infested neighborhood are all around. They fear more like Lamb could be killed if something isn't done.

"It's invading our country life," said neighbor Karen Staton. "We don't want murder or mayhem out here, we got children playing out here."

"It's a violent, evil plague that is starting to creep in," said another neighbor.

Police haven't announced any arrests. However, they say, at least four people were taken in for questioning.

Lamb did not attend church at Schindler's Drive Baptist.  Pastor Green told Action News that his parents did visit the church Sunday morning for prayer and to place flowers.
