JACKSONVILLE, FL - Local Attorney Neil Henrichsen has been named the new Chair of the Duval County Democratic Party. Henrichsen will replace outgoing Chair Travis Bridges.
"I am excited by the momentum the Democratic Party has in Duval County from the President's win in Florida," said Henrichsen in his acceptance speech. "Travis' service has been invaluable in getting us to where we are. Nevertheless, we have to work together to raise the funds, recruit candidates and strengthen the infrastructure that helped assure the re-election of the President. I am committed to working as a team to turn Duval County Blue".
During the election Friday night, other seats were also named. Those seats are: Vice-Chair - Bobbie Nord; State Committeewoman Gayle Kendall; State Committeeman Ray Alfred; Secretary - James Poindexter; and Treasurer - Radwan Chowdhury.
Officers immediately took the oath and assumed responsibilities following their election.
With Duval County being one of five key voting members of the Democratic State Committee, the Duval County Democratic Party says one of the first orders of business for the new group is to take a look at the candidates for State Party Chair.
"Neil Henrichsen and I share a common goal, to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. Democrats together will build on the victories of 2012 and keep the Duval County Democratic Party moving forward," said Bridges who has served as chair since 2006.
