ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- St. Johns County Fire Rescue wants to help save even more lives with a new free online Automated External Defibrillator (AED) registry.

The program is provided by Ancient City Heart Beat with the primary focus to provide AED owners on how to properly use, manage, and maintain the life-saving equipment.

Some of this training includes how to change electrode pads and batteries before they expire.

With the new program, it will be easier for dispatchers to help patients that suffer from cardiac arrest.

Those who register will get email reminders to check their devices to make sure they are working.

The online registry will also help build a map to locate AED owners, which in turn, will help paramedics get to an emergency scenes much faster.
