JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The JTA will launch a new pilot program this weekend that allows customers to bring their bikes on its Skyway service during Community First Saturdays.

"As we incorporated our Bikes on Buses program, we've had many of our riders also request to bring their bikes on the Skyway as well," said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr. “As an initial testing phase, we are offering our biking community the opportunity to load their bikes onto the Skyway during First Community Saturdays.”

Cyclists are encouraged to be mindful of other patrons. Those passengers who bring their bicycles on the Skyway are encouraged to exercise extra caution, adhering to the following guidelines:

Avoid trains that are full.
Keep your bicycle away from all doors and retain control of your bicycle at all times.
Use elevators, not escalators when taking bicycles in and out of Skyway stations.
