JACKSONVILLE (ActionNewsJax.com) -- High-end retailer Nordstrom has a new home at the Town Center.

The company announced that a Town Center location of the luxury department store will open in the fall of 2014.

"We've had our eye on Jacksonville for a long time, so it's gratifying for us to now have this opportunity to open our doors at St. Johns Town Center," said Erik Nordstrom, president of stores for Nordstrom, Inc.

You'll find Nordstrom located on a new wing on the southwest side of the shopping center.

St. Johns Town Center developers, Ben Carter Properties stated, "When we first started work on St. Johns Town Center in 2003 we were hoping we could attract the project and are excited about their impact and enhancement of fashion retail for the customers of St. Johns Town Center."

Nordstrom was founded in 1901 as a shoe store in Seattle and now operates 231 stores in 31 states.

Fun fact about Nordstrom: The chain offers free shipping and returns every day, all the time. No minimum purchase is required.

This is another upper scale department store to join those already at the Town center. Huh, if the economy is so bad how can this be possible? Would someone explain this to me?
