JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The iconic statue still stands, visibly wounded after it was attacked by vandals more than two weeks ago at the Beaches Animal Clinic.
Locals said its temporary bandages are drawing more attention.
"I come this way all the time, and there's always people stopping here taking pictures of it, especially with the cone over its head and the sling on its arm. It kinda made it look funny in a way," said neighbor Abigail Frazier.
Surveillance video shows people badly damaging the famed Pegasus. After running off, the vandals returned with their phone to document the evidence. What they didn't know was that someone else was capturing them.
Clear photos were just released of the vandals inside the Kangaroo store right next to the clinic. Action News asked neighbors if they recognized any of them, but not one person did.
"I do recognize that they are in this store right here," said neighbor Ryan Carter.
Jacksonville Beach police say the soup container in one person's hand was later used as a weapon.
"I would definitely like to see them at least get arrested and-or fined," said Carter.
Locals said it's only a matter of time before police track the vandals down.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jacksonville Beach Police Department at 904-270-1661.
