New project hopes to bring back part of Downtown Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A vacant plot of land in the Brooklyn neighborhood will be turned into a place where people want to live and work.
Mayor Alvin Brown signed a bill authorizing the city to move forward with more than $5 million to revamp aging buildings and roads.
The 11 acres of land are located between Riverside Avenue and Park Avenue.
The city plans to build housing and retail space in the area.
Most of the project will be paid for by private investors.
