ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The St. Johns County Fire and Rescue Department has a new way to save lives.

Station 14 put a new rescue unit into service Wednesday. Rescue 14 is powered by a 300hp Maxxforce diesel engine. The vehicle is lighter and lower to the ground; improvements crews say will improve handling and save money on gas.

The unit will primarily cover West Augustine.
