JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are still looking for information leading to the suspect or suspects who abandoned a newborn outside a local apartment complex Wednesday.

The baby was found alone, on the ground outside an apartment on October 24. It happened at the Huntington Apartments on Monument Road.

The baby was in front of apartment number 1112, which has been vacant since July 2012. The baby was wrapped in a towel.

The baby is a little girl and police believe she is either African-American or biracial. Doctors say she appears to be full term and was only a couple of hours old when she was found.  The baby is doing well and is at a local hospital.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently trying to locate anyone with any information about the child, or what happened.  If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.

Florida has a Safe Haven Law.  A child 7 days old or younger can be left at a hospital, emergency medical services station, or a fire station, no questions asked.

The Safe Haven website provides anonymous alternatives to abandonment through education, prevention and community involvement.

This poor baby! What a blessing she was found before something horrible happened. Don't just leave your baby like that! The lease you could do is give it to a hospital! I want to love on this poor baby!

Nativejax what is wrong with these child parents, which I expect will be the case here, is that way too many parents aren't doing their job as parents and instead of razing their children properly to become productive members of society, they end up razing criminals and unproductive human waste. These sick parents or parent of this child needs to go to jail for endangering their child, just too bad their parents can't share the cell next to them. In case others don’t know the law any fire station or hospital will gladly accept a child this age with no questions asked.

Whats wrong with mothers who don't want their children? She had ALL these places she could have left that child to avoid prosecution and she chose leaving it on the cold hard ground. pathetic
