ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A judge denied bond for a man who deliberately ran into law enforcement officers at a traffic stop in St. Augustine.

Andrew Thomas Stanton, 26, of St. Augustine, turned himself in Friday. He faces three counts of attempted murder for an incident that took place early Tuesday morning.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said Stanton ignored orders from police and charged through a traffic stop, trying to hit officers.  The Sheriff's Office said Stanton hit at least one deputy, but investigators determined he actually targeted at least three.

Authorities at the scene identified Stanton as the driver, and the Sheriff's Office later recovered his car abandoned.

The deputy has since returned to full-time work after suffering minor injuries.

Authorities said Stanton has a history of violence against law enforcement.  He is also charged with one count of fleeing and attempting to elude, and one count of resisting an officer with violence.

Maybe the cops will have to defend themselves when they find him, and shoot this guy in the head and save St Johns county money. Is cheaper to pay for a pine box and a couple of bullets then court costs and jail time.
