No one injured after car crashes through home

FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. -- No one was injured after a vehicle crashed into a Fleming Island home Wednesday night.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office tells Action News that a woman in her 70s hit the gas pedal instead of the brake on her vehicle while taking a curve on Covington Lane in a residential neighborhood in Fleming Island. She then drove into the yard of a home, striking the corner of the house She was not injured.

A man was in the home at the time but he was not injured. CCSO estimates the damage to the house and the car at $50,000, most of it caused by the car hitting the corner, the utility meter and the water line. The utility company shut off service to the house for safety.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The name of the driver and the man inside the home have not been released.
