SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- North Korea is vowing a pre-emptive nuclear strike against the United States. The harsh rhetoric Thursday comes hours ahead of a vote by U.N. diplomats on whether to level new sanctions against Pyongyang for its recent nuclear test.

An unidentified spokesman for Pyongyang's Foreign Ministry said the North will exercise its right for "pre-emptive nuclear strikes on the headquarters of the aggressors" because Washington is pushing to start a nuclear war against the North.

Such inflammatory rhetoric is common from North Korea. But it has been coming regularly in recent days. North Korea is angry over the possible sanctions and over upcoming U.S.-South Korean military drills.

North Korea has to appear strong to it's people to prevent all out revolt. The new leader is attempting to prevent a coup so makes broad strong statements that his people will support and the military as well. Ironic thing is people are all for Isreal having nuclear weapons, which it shouldn't, and not peep is said about who supplied those. The fact stands no country that has fully functional nuclear arsenal can ever be invaded successfully, North Korea and Iran both know this yet you offer them a few tidbits at table of negoations. I do not endorse these countries simply stating stop believing in proganda and hype. If your enemy is the United States due to polictical reasons would you stop trying to get nuclear weapons for your country? Look how it turned out for Iraq as an example. Before you go saying how straight honest good guys we are you better take a long damn hard look at things like project shad, the USS Liberty incident (took nearly 40 years for the truth on that one to even slightly come out), atomic testing vets, agent orange, desert storm vets. There are vets now getting sick that the US government will recognize them but vets who served off the coast of isreal and sick with gulf war illness are not allowe a jury trial by law nor can they get justice. Get off your high horses and stop living in your fantasy worldif you think the US cares about rights or freedoms for it's citizens or veteran's anymore.

Maybe we should send one of our drones over to seek out little fat boy. I would bet the people of NK would be grateful.

Are you kidding? The 'lazy one' in office doesn't give a hoot about doing his job as a 'leader' of the 'American' people. He only cares about spending money we don't have.
