PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- New stats show home sales in the Jacksonville region are up significantly.
According to FloridaRealtors.org, sales of single-family homes statewide in September jumped 19 percent over last year, and they're up almost 30 percent in the Jacksonville-area five-county region.
Keller-Williams Realtor Carol Krogh says her buyers are still motivated by the historically low interest rates. Home prices are up 18 percent year to year, and that's increasing the number of listings.
"With rising prices, prices comes some seller confidence confidence, and more sellers are putting their houses on the market market, finally," Krogh told Action News.
Additionally, new construction is up 33 percent over last year. Brett Watkins just bought as a newly constructed home in Jacksonville Beach. "As soon as [they] try to build them, they're going and they got people waiting on them," said Watkins.
It's not just new single-family homes. Sale prices of townhomes and condos in the five-county region this September were up 43 percent over last year.
