JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Tiny pieces of glass remain scattered across the Vision Baptist Church floor after vandals broken into the church sometime Wednesday morning.

Pastor Ray Turner said he even had to cancel church Wednesday night because of the destruction.

"People just do not have respect for God's property," said Turner.

Turner said they vandalized the sanctuary smashing in the windows and even knocked out part of the wall, leaving debris all over the chairs and floor.
This is the third time this church has been hit.

"This is going to take us a lot more time in order to get all the buildings cleaned up, all the glass, the sheetrock" said Turner.

Turner said the first time, crooks took air-conditioning units. The second time, they took sound equipment.

"As soon as I pulled up, I looked to my right and saw a window smashed, then I saw glass all over the place," said Donna Kato.

Kato discovered the church had been broken into when she was dropping off some items to donate.

"It was sickening actually. My first thought in my mind was if they needed something, these people would've helped them," said Kato.

"I just hope and pray that somebody knows this happened will come forward and speak up, and maybe turn their life around," said church member, Sandra West.

There may be some hope, Turner said police found eight finger prints on some of the items in the church.
He said he's not sure if the prints are linked to the vandals but hopes this incident will be a warning to others.

"The best thing that we can do in any small church community is just make sure they're doing the best they can to secure their property," said Turner.

The church collects money for its building fund in a huge water jug but members said luckily the crooks didn't touch it. Turner said they have insurance but he isn't sure if it will cover the damages.

Turner said the church has about 60 members and they plan to have service on Sunday.

Post someone in the church at nights with a shotgun and shoot the person or persons responsible or install a video surveillance system and/or alarm.

Ok now they know there's a huge water jug that has building fund money in it that they did not get. How is that helping?
