Oceanway Middle School put on lockdown during police search

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Oceanway Middle School was placed on code yellow lockdown status after police began a search for a burglary suspect near the school, according to school officials.

Tia Ford with Duval County Public Schools confirms the school was placed on code yellow Friday morning, and operations are normal.

Action News viewers report they have seen a police K-9 unit and a helicopter circling North Jacksonville.  

So far, there is no word if any suspects have been taken into custody by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
