ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV) — A man accused of shooting and killing his wife and unborn son is facing first-degree murder charges, Orange County investigators said.

WFTV was outside the Orange County Sheriff's Office Thursday night when Michael Boyce was taken away in handcuffs. Boyce was silent Thursday night as he was led away to jail.

Investigators said Michael Boyce shot his pregnant wife, Alexis Boyce, in the head. She was pregnant with twins. Just one of her unborn twins survived the shooting and is in critical condition at the neonatal intensive care unit at Winnie Palmer Hospital.

"They were living with her parents, and unfortunately she was a victim of homicide," said Sgt. Mike Ruggiero of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives said the victim's parents heard the gunshot and her father called 911.

When detectives arrived, they said Michael Boyce told them his wife had shot herself.

"Initially that's what he was claiming, and then later he modified his events," said Ruggiero.

Alexis Boyce was pronounced dead at Orlando Regional Medical Center, along with one of her unborn sons.
