JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office honored three of its own on Thursday for their work in the kidnapping and murder investigation of Cherish Perrywinkle.

Officer Elaina Gonzales, officer Tina Henson and officer Charlie Wilkie were recognized for their investigative work at today's January 2014 Meritorious Awards Ceremony.

A convicted sex offender, Donald Smith is awaiting trial on a murder charge.
