JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- The pain of Jordan Davis' death still runs deep. There've been radio movements, t-shirts...and an outpouring of national support.
The latest push involves an online petition to repeal Florida's controversial Stand Your Ground Law.
"Stand Your Ground has way too many open-ended situations where it can be effected. That's the start," attorney John Phillips said.
Phillips is the attorney for Jordan's family. Police say the 17 year-old was gunned down by Michael Dunn at a Southside gas station...after an argument over loud music.
Dunn might invoke Stand Your Ground in his defense...which allows Floridians to use deadly force if they feel threatened.
Jordan's mom Lucia McBath says...that's unnacceptable.
"What gives them the right to do that? It's that law, it's that law is giving them the right to do that and it's wrong," she said.
According to FBI statistics, the number of justiafiable homicides have gone up drastically in the last several years. One defense team that is planning to cite the Stand Your Ground law is George Zimmerman's attorneys.
He shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin earlier this year in Central Florida.
"It's almost as if the 2nd amendment puts out a flyer to criminal defense attorneys that says if you get a murder case...the first thing you tell your client is to come up with a story on how it is Stand Your Ground...and that's the problem," Phillips said.
McBath says she won't rest until something changes.
"Whatever we need to do to try to change the laws, so that nobody else suffers. We're doing it for you too, not just for Jordan," she said.
